THE CONTEXT
As is well known, the cyber age presents daunting challenges for Policing and Criminal Justice.  The tumultuous technological and social changes fueled by the internet and the new social media are relentlessly changing the nature, the intensity and the reach of crime, even as national and international boundaries collapse.  At the same time, technology also opens up a whole new world of possibilities, to strengthen the hands of our policewomen and men, placing enormous and unprecedented potential and possibilities in the fields of police governance, investigation, safety and security management as well as citizen-centric policing.
 
CONFERENCE OBJECTIVES 

COPPS 2018 seeks to bring to the forefront, big, game-changing ideas and strategies that aims to transform policing in tomorrow’s India

• Bring together the leading visionaries and thought leaders from government, the corporate world, academia, legal profession, civil society and non-government organizations
• Explore the frontiers of emerging technologies, automation and innovation
• Shift focus from the tactical to the strategic narrative, in keeping pace with the exponential technological changes that are driving not only crimes and criminals, but also the police and security establishments that define security of our people and our nation
• COPPS will be a conference with a difference. We seek to go beyond mere talking and discussing to implementation of compelling ideas and making a difference on the ground

 The Indian Police needs to build a whole new set of paradigms that will help build new strategic alliances and partnerships within government as well as with the non-government world, the entire ecosystem of the NGOs, think tanks, academic scholars, professionals as well as thought leaders from the industry and civil society. Alignment of different silos with emerging trends, challenges and path-breaking solutions will be one of the principal purposes of this confluence.
